The Legendhunters is a one-hour, comedy adventure, shot cinema verite style, combining film, 8mm, and hi-def camera work with photo stills, light animation, and a blazing soundtrack, in which hilariously funny host Chris Murray will travel the globe with his nimble production team, in search of swashbuckling adventurers and explorers who continue to live fearlessly well into the twilight of their lives. Chris will invite the living legend on one last, perhaps final journey into the unknown, testing their limits, and allowing for a true examination of the extraordinary life of our chosen hero. The show will be character and situation driven and shot in breathtaking landscapes- the Himalayas, the Amazonian river basin, the Hebrides of Scotland and the Australian Outback- as he searches the far corners of the globe for living legends with unbelievable stories to tell.
No, The Legendhunters is not a documentary, it is an adventure show that examines greatness under duress, and exploits the potential for comedy therein. But it is also a wonderful examination of truly inspiring and enigmatic heroes who have chosen lives far more dangerous and fearless than our own.
Who are the Legends? From arctic explorers and mountaineers, to drug smugglers and mercenary pilots, Chris is going to find the oldest, baddest, most fearless men in the world. His goal is to find out the secrets to living unapologetic, and extraordinary lives. This will offer a collision of young and old, experience versus inexperience, and fearlessness versus vast fear, as Chris learns the forgotten art of being a badass first hand, while entertaining and inspiring viewers to imagine a life lived fully on the edge.
Who is Chris Murray? Well, Chris Murray is not an adventurer or an explorer. In fact, he’d rather be surrounded by a beautiful blonde than a perilous jungle. But he is a screenwriter and successful comedic actor living and working in New York City. And, he’s never backed away from tackling new, exciting challenges. But, Chris is afraid that he is turning into a weakling; that the ease and predictability of living in the city have turned him soft. Besides, he feels a deep kinship to the men of yesteryear; those men with grit, fortitude, and fearlessness, and he’s determined to find as many as he can and bring their stories to life, before it’s too late.
Chris is going to abandon the city life and take his passion for storytelling and character out into the great unknown, leaving his comfort zone to find men who’ve thrived in truly inhospitable comfort zones, learning the ancient art of being a badass from those who have done it before him. Chris is going searching for the vast wisdom inherent in these men, these legends living among us whose stories have never been told; old men who’ve never needed yoga, the Internet, or a drink from the fountain of youth.
